Core Model – It’s a Sprint, Not a Marathon

Product road mapping requires a positive view of the future, paired with a critical eye on the present.

To ensure the business is building and catering to what matters most to its customers, it is pertinent for one to ask the following questions:

  • How is your product helping your customers?

  • What features are really needed?

  • What would it take to deliver them?

  • What added services could make it better?

  • What are the customers struggling with?

And when the product is for a century–old luxurious fashion house, the task tends to become even more daunting. There are a myriad of hidden challenges and invisible constraints that affect the decision – making process applied in building features. So We choose to tap the team’s knowledge of customers, partners, users, and the business to help ensure that we are considering everything from every angle.

A product roadmap defines the strategic direction of your product, while a release plan defines the work that goes into delivering your vision. It’s imperative to think strategically and execute with precision while collaborating with colleagues in various regions/countries to support them along the way.

And like I began, it’s a Sprint and not a Marathon that just keeps going on…

Core features include setting up the product hierarchy, integrating the product catalogs and their prices while also establishing, the basic procurement and sales flow process.

A constant effort is ensured to keep the product up-to-date yet simple to customize as per local requirements.

To ensure the business is building and catering to what matters most to its customers, it is pertinent for one to ask the following questions: yet simple to customize as per local requirements.

A strong core product should improve the organization from the bottom up. Most regions and countries would expect benefits like not reinventing the wheel when implementing and using it.

The first risk associated with using any core product is that it may not be used properly across regions. This often places one in  a bind as you have paid for a product but are unable to  reap all of its benefits.

However, the core team wants to ensure that implementations are smooth and that integrations are maintained.

The team knows it is necessary to understand regional and country operations in detail to serve their customers to the fullest! By giving the management total control of the business and permitting everyone to better serve their customers, we accomplish the best use of their investments.

Furthermore, Product Backlog provides a flexible way to organize and distribute work across the team so that everyone remains productive and the whole team runs at a smooth cadence. At the heart of every product team is a vibrant culture driven towards creation, organization, and the delivery of proficiency for great customer experiences. Every big dream is accomplished by working on  a set of steps to reach the summit! Similarly to get from here to there, our agility has been key! The most effective agile teams are small, nimble groups of 7 to 10 people with diverse, yet overlapping skill sets. This structure enables the team to develop close, trusting relationships that leverage different abilities and accelerate the team’s capacity to deliver work.

Having a large footprint across diverse regions is the ultimate target of any product and we are elated to announce that we are in this to stay!
