Innovation is one of the key strategic boosters at SolCen. To keep the Solution Center aligned with the mission of “Innovation Everywhere”, a dedicated area for creativity and innovation was formed called INNOLAB.
The first impact of INNOLAB was the successful hosting of Hackathon. It is an event that is hosted every year with a theme, where employees form teams and come up with a prototype for their ideas. The core committee members of INNOLAB also take knowledge transfer sessions and workshops on Computer Vision, as it was the theme for Hackathon 2018. In addition to this, through hands-on sessions on Python and tech talks on Computer vision, we were pleased to see an attendance of nearly 60+ employees. Hackathon 2018 stood testimony to our immense employee participation and resulted in the formulation of 30+ amazing ideas that made the event a huge success.
An Innovation Tracker has been put in place to store, track and process the different ideas and concepts. The Innolab team will work with the respective teams to implement the ideas in real-time. The tracker currently has two streams, Technology, and Process Improvements. The Technology track is focused on, but not limited to – innovations in areas of Computer Vision, IOT, NLP, Speech Recognition, Data Analytics, Augmented Reality, and Virtual Reality. Whereas the Process Improvement stream focuses on any value additions or best practices that we could bring to work daily. Over 60 ideas have already been submitted and we are currently in the process of filtering and prioritizing them in order to start working on them.
In addition to this, multiple tech fests are planned in the coming years such as the Dragon’s Fest which will be an important event within the organization to showcase the Mock-Up’s/POC that have been worked on throughout the year. It will help different teams understand the value, Innovation can bring in to their projects.
A creative dedicated workspace is also available at the SolCen office premises which has been designed with the theme of Innovation in mind. Here employees can take time off from their regular work, think and work on new ideas and technology.
